Recognizing the critical importance of both community and rhythm,
in Enki programs we devote attention to seasonal changes as part
of our ongoing work with the children. In the younger grades, K-4,
seasonal displays, stories, songs, paintings and activities such
as gardening, building, candle dipping and cooking deepen the experience
of natural rhythms.

As well, celebration of seasonal changes is an important and unifying
part of community life. We strive to develop festivals that are
in keeping with the nature of each season. At the Fall Festival,
we share our harvest bounty, enjoy the young animals born the previous
spring, and play family games in the last of the outdoor weather.
For our winter festival, the Lantern Walk, we walk together on the
solstice under the starry sky, holding lanterns and singing winter
songs, in keeping with the quiet and inward pulse of nature. Then
as spring attempts to make itself felt, buds are aching to bloom
and children are exploding with the energy they have stored all
winter, we reach out to the larger community with a spring festival
filled with crafts, stories, puppet shows, music, games and the
like.
