Our commitment to the whole child makes it imperative
that all artistic and academic learning is brought to the children
through body, heart, and mind. The foundation of this is movement
work, including games, dances, and songs. Movement work, which
is so lacking in modern life, also gives us the opportunity to
work with neurological and sensory
integration. Drawing from Sensory

Gym so crucial to becoming an effective learner.
To this end, all activities in all collections are marked to let
the parent or teacher know how a given
activity nourishes and integrates specific sensory systems.
In the Homeschool, where a formal circle may
or may not be in keeping with the flow of the day, the songs and
activities in these curriculum libraries can enrich and enliven
other undertakings. They may be used to support smooth transitioning
between activities, provide a resource to select just those sensory
integration activities that will serve your child’s full
development, offer opportunities to listen to songs of the seasons
and from around the world. Through it all, they provide a source
of family fun.
In the Classroom program, too, the active morning circle nourishes
and integrates the children. It also serves to bring the children
together as a class community, at rest in their bodies and ready
to learn in a more focused manner.
All Circle Libraries come with both a CD
of the songs, and a DVD of the movement activities, making
it far easier to learn the activities, and providing a master
from which you can select and copy songs for family listening
fun. Those wishing to purchase several books

rods, and jump ropes. It, too, is designed to support both

Multicultural Arts Project

We are currently seeking funds
to complete an extensive multicultural arts curriculum. This
is a two part project: 1) World Cultures, and 2) First Nations:
the North American Indian.
1) The first set of materials (book, song CD, and demonstration
DVD) will cover 10-12 sample cultures from around the world
(exclusive of the North American Indian). For each culture
there will be a short description of cultural norms followed
by a collection of songs, dances, and games appropriate for
the 7 - 12 year old child. Each song will be sung on the CD
and each dance or game demonstrated on the DVD. The books will
include sheet music and written directions for all dances and
games, and approximately 10 cultural crafts.
2) The second set of materials will support our 4th and 5th
Grade focus on continental social studies. Because Enki is
based in North America, the first collection for this study
will focus exclusively on the First Nations people/North American
Indians and will include the same kinds of books and media
as our world-wide collection. We hope over the years we will
be able to expand the Multicultural Arts collections to include
more complete representations of the diversity found on other
continents.
